A man is to appear in court later this year in connection with the deaths of five people in a car crash, it was announced today.
A court hearing was set after relatives of the victims of the crash at Quigley's Point, Co Donegal, last month criticised delays in the prosecution.
Darren Quinn (aged 21), his cousin Gavin Duffy (aged 21), Charlene O'Connor (aged 21), Rochelle Peoples (aged 22), all from Buncrana, and David Steele (aged 23), from Quigley's Point, were all killed in the crash on October 8 2005.
The Peugeot 306 they were travelling in hit a Mazda Premacy people carrier in the early hours of the morning.
The sole survivor, Brendan Henderson, a psychiatric nurse from Sevenoaks, Derry, who was driving the Mazda, was badly injured.
Gardaí said a man was due to appear at Carndonagh District Court in Co Donegal on April 15, in connection with the crash.
Last month, relatives of the dead held a press conference in Buncrana demanding answers from the Director of Public Prosecutions about the delay in the case.
Investigating gardaí had sent a file to the DPP shortly after the incident more than two years ago.
