Six Nations: O’Connell promoted to senior squad

Munster's Paul O'Connell has been promoted to the Irish senior squad following the withdrawal of Malcolm O'Kelly for the Six Nations game against Wales on Sunday next.

Munster's Paul O'Connell has been promoted to the Irish senior squad following the withdrawal of Malcolm O'Kelly for the Six Nations game against Wales on Sunday next.

O'Connell has been called up as a precaution should O'Kelly fail a medical early next week. O'Kelly has a damaged eye socket and cheekbone.

O’Connell’s replacement on the A squad will be announced later in the week.
