Setanta launches channel to cover Old Firm finale

Setanta Sports will introduce a new channel to broadcast live coverage of the games involving Celtic and Rangers on Sunday.

The Hoops have to win at Motherwell to retain the Bank of Scotland Premier League title while Rangers travel to Hibernian.

The new channel – Setanta Soccer – will provide an extra station to cover the game at Easter Road while the original Setanta Sports will show the Fir Park match.

BBC Scotland opened up BBC2 Scotland two years ago to show simultaneous coverage of both Old Firm games in the nail-biting end to the season.

Now Setanta want to follow the same example to provide the best possible coverage in their first season as television hosts of the SPL.

Setanta Sports managing director Roger Hall said: “We promised to do the best for SPL fans and take the channel to a new level and we have been delivering on that promise all season.

“It has been nip-and-tuck for months and with the championship being decided on the last day we are determined to ensure that Setanta Sports provide comprehensive coverage of the league deciders.”

Setanta Soccer is a bonus channel which will be available with the existing Setanta Sports package.
