The FAI has promised to discuss the Government's proposed resolution to stop Sky Sports secure exclusive rights to the live broadcast of Ireland's home football internationals.

The proposal was put forward at talks today, but details of it have not been made public.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the FAI said it informed the Government of the concerns it has about the development of Irish soccer.

But they added that RTE's dominance of the terrestrial market makes it difficult to achieve a balance between development and the benefit to the public.
