Two men have been killed in a crash in Co Longford overnight while two others - a man and woman - were seriously injured and have been brought to hospital.

Two men have been killed in a crash in Co Longford overnight while two others - a man and woman - were seriously injured and have been brought to hospital.

The single-vehicle incident happened on the Longford to Keenagh road in the Ballymacormack area at 12.30am.

Two men in their early 20s were killed in the crash, while two other people have been taken to Mullingar General Hospital for treatment.

One of them - a woman - is in a critical condition, while another man is in a serious condition.

The scene of the crash has been sealed off and forensic collision investigators are due to conduct an examination.

Drivers in the area are being warned that the road is closed to traffic and diversions are in place.
