A man has died in a car crash in Co Mayo this evening.

A man has died in a car crash in Co Mayo this evening.

The 38-year-old was the driver of one of two cars involved in the collision, which happened on the N17 between Ballindine and Claremorris just before 5pm.

The female passenger of the dead man's car was injured but not seriously, while the driver of the other car, a man in his 30s, was also injured.

Both of the survivors were taken to Castlebar General Hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardaí at Claremorris are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them on 094 9372080.
