Eamon Gilmore has been confirmed as the new leader of the Labour Party following Pat Rabbitte's resignation last month.
Mr Gilmore secured the job today when no other candidates put their names forward by the noon deadline.
Accepting the position, he said intended to reorganise the party at branch level and take as many people as possible out of poverty.
Jan O'Sullivan and Joan Burton are the only two candidates for the deputy leadership, which will be filled following a postal ballot in the coming weeks.
