The Government has said that it will allocate almost €400,000 to older people, so they can install alarms and security equipment in their homes.

The money comes from the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

Minister of State Noel Ahern says it is aimed at bringing elderly people peace of mind.
