Gardaí have reportedly deported up to 35 failed Nigerian asylum seekers on a specially chartered flight from Dublin Airport to Lagos this morning.

Reports this morning said around half the group were arrested in Dublin and other parts of the country yesterday, while the others were already being held in a number of prisons.

The group reportedly included four children.

Their repatriation represents the largest mass deportation of Nigerians in the history of the State.

Last week, 61 failed Romanian and Moldovan asylum seekers were also deported on a specially chartered flight from Dublin to eastern Europe.
