Coastguard rescues sick fisherman

A fisherman has been airlifted to hospital after falling ill on board his boat off the coast of Co Cork this morning.

A fisherman has been airlifted to hospital after falling ill on board his boat off the coast of Co Cork this morning.

The Portuguese man in his early 20s was on board a fishing vessel around 150 miles south-west of Castletownbere when he became ill at around 3am.

Shannon Coastguard airlifted the man to Limerick Regional Hospital for treatment.
