Thousands of households around the country are without water today as crews battle to repair leaks, restore supplies and replenish reservoir levels.
Many more are facing serious restrictions which have been introduced in order to restore reservoir levels in the worst affected areas.
Local authorities are appealing to people to conserve water.
Crews have been mobilised to fix burst water mains caused by the thaw and tankers are being made available in many places.
People are being advised to log onto their local authority's website for information.
County Clare is one of the areas badly affected and Clare County Council have said that water will be cut off in the areas below.
- Doora, Barefield, Crusheen, Lahinch Road, Shanaway Road. Clare Road (area around St Flannan’s College) Tulla Road including Spancilhill Group Water Scheme and Gort Road Ennis from 10.00pm to 7.00am
- Shannon, Newmarket on Fergus, Sixmilebridge, Kilmurray, Kilkishen, Quin and Tulla from 8.00pm to 8.00am
- Water will also be off in Tulla tomorrow from 2pm to 6pm for essential repairs
- Clonlara, Broadford, Shannon Banks, Westbury, Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Carraig Midhe, Coolisteigue from 7pm to 9am
- Ballyvaughan, Miltown Malbay, Corofin, Ruan, Ennistymon, Lahinch, Liscannor, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin and Fanore from 11.30pm to 8am
The council have said that standpipes will operate in Ennis/Clarecastle, Shannon, Sixmilebridge, Westbury and Tulla.
A Water tanker will also be available at the Shannon Fire Station tomorrow from 10am to 12 noon.
Water supplies will also be provided in Quin at the Church from 10am to 12 noon, Lahinch Prom from 2pm to 4pm and Ruan Village from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and Doora Church from 2pm to 3pm tomorrow.
