Two winched to safety by Air Corps helicopter

Two people were winched to safety by an Air Corps helicopter in Dublin Bay this afternoon.

The helicopter was called to the scene by the Coastguard shortly before 3pm, after two people got into difficulty about one mile off the coast of Sandymount.

The pair are said to be in a stable condition at Tallaght hospital in Dublin this evening.

It is believed that they were swept out to sea by the tide while walking along the coast.
