Seven escape from apartment fire in Derry

Seven people have been rescued after a fire broke out in a block of flats in Derry.

Seven people have been rescued after a fire broke out in a block of flats in Derry.

It happened at around two o'clock this morning in the Carnhill area of the city.

Residents were unable to get out on their own because of thick smoke in the main staircase.

Two women are being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
