INMO 'concerned HSE is beginning to drag its feet' on overcrowding crisis

A review to deal with the overcrowding crisis in Emergency Departments is before the Workplace Relations Commission today.

Previous talks at the WRC led to an agreement aimed at averting nationwide industrial action by nurses.

It contains a number of measures designed at reducing overcrowding in EDs.

The WRC chaired review involves the INMO, HSE and Department of Health.

General secretary of the INMO Liam Doran says he is concerned the HSE is reneging on the agreement.

Mr Doran said: "We're very concerned that the HSE is beginning to drag its feet, this was all about the patients, all about improving the environment of patients and frontline staff.

"We certainly have the sense that management are not engaging as fulsomely as required.

"The evidence of that is we have had increasing levels of overcrowding in the last 10 days."
