Dublin 1-19, Waterford 1-14 (full-time)

Seventeen wides for Waterford told its own story as the Dublin hurlers recorded a famous victory at Parnell Park this afternoon.

Having squandered a streak of chances in the first half Waterford trailed by 0-09 to 0-07 at the break but it all went horribly wrong for the visitors after the re start.

All but one of the Dublin forwards managed to make their mark with Ger Ellis’ goal on 57 minutes putting the home team six points clear.

Waterford were offered some consolation when Ken McGrath found the back of the net with a free in the dying seconds.
