Gardaí investigate latest gangland shooting

A post mortem is being carried out today on the body of a man shot dead in a gangland-style hit in south-west Dublin.

A post mortem is being carried out today on the body of a man shot dead in a gangland-style hit in south-west Dublin.

The 30-year-old, believed to be from the Tallaght area and known to gardaí, was murdered yards from his girlfriend’s home in Walkinstown.

The attack took place on Bunting Road at around 7pm last night.

Detectives were investigating reports that a gunman approached the victim, chased him across the road and opened fire, shooting the man in the head several times.

A forensic examination of the scene was continuing today.

Gardaí at Sundrive Road want to talk to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm. Anyone with information should contact detectives on 01 666 6674.
