News on the jobs front in the North has been just as gloomy today with the announcment that a glass company employing 75 is being put into administration.

McNeill-McManus Glass Limited in Mallusk Co. Antrim has been in the industry for more than 80 years but the administrators say it has been "significantly impacted by the downturn in the construction industry".

The directors had no option but to place it in administration because of a dearth of orders and a cash flow problem.

Meanwhile Ulster Unionist Party leader Reg Empey says 20,000 jobs could be lost across the North this year.

This would see unemployment figures more than doubling.

Sinn Féin responded saying Empey must not just spread gloom but do all in his power to save jobs.
