Fire safety experts are due to meet in Athlone, Co Westmeath, today to discuss ways to reduce the number of people who die in house fires each year.

Fire safety experts are due to meet in Athlone, Co Westmeath, today to discuss ways to reduce the number of people who die in house fires each year.

25 people have died in such fires so far this year.

The National Safety Council said children under 12 years old and adults over 65 are most at risk.
