The ISEQ has risen more than 16 points in early trading today.
At 10.45am the ISEQ had climbed 16.24 to 5342.87. While the ISEQ has risen, banks have slipped in early trading.
AIB slipped 4c to €12.31 while Bank of Ireland slipped 3c to €10.74. Anglo Irish Bank was down 15c to €12.85 and Irish Life & Permanent has fallen back 5c to €12.65.
Meanwhile betting giant Paddy Power today announced at the company AGM increased turnover and profits for 2004.
Chairman Fintan Drury said turnover has increased by approximately 18% in comparison to the same period in 2003. Shares in the company were unchanged in mid-morning trading at €9.20.
Elsewhere Heiton shares fell back 5c to €6.55 after an eventful few days for the company.
Pharamceutical Elan is back on the rise, up 10c to €18.30. It was announced yesterday that Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co has acquired, from Elan, the rights to market and distribute painkilling drug Naprelan in the US.
