Irish Examiner snapper returns to Cork with two major accolades

To be recognised once by your peers as a leader in your field of endeavour is a feat in itself but it's quite something to be honoured twice in the one ceremony.

To be recognised once by your peers as a leader in your field of endeavour is a feat in itself but it's quite something to be honoured twice in the one ceremony.

That's exactly what happened Skibereen man Denis Minihane who is returning to Cork this evening armed with silverware after his double acknowledgement at the 2007 AIB Photojournalism awards.

Presented by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, Denis, a staff photographer with the Irish Examiner, fought off competition from major national and international media organisations to land the trophies at the ceremony organised by the Press Photographers Association of Ireland.

His study of a first schoolday in West Cork and a poignant photo from last year's All Ireland Senior Hurling Final landed him the honours, and he was just as pleased for his subjects.
