Noel Gallagher has slammed their forthcoming best of album Stop the Clocks - insisting the release was the record label's idea not the band's.
The release of the greatest hits disc ends Oasis's deal with record giants Sony BMG and has lead to speculation the group are splitting, when in reality they are looking forward to a new album of original material.
The Don't Look back in Anger hitmaker says: "We've got so much left over from the last album, at least another two or three albums worth of material.
"Our next new record is more important than this one, but this (best of) had to happen now."
Despite his initial reluctance, he says: "In a way it's liberating. We've done it and it's out there, it's finished now and it stops people asking about it, because we were getting asked about it constantly."
