ERU counsel unhappy with proposed questioning

Legal counsel for the Garda Emergency Response Unit has raised objections about proposed questioning by the Dail inquiry into the killing of John Carthy.

Legal counsel for the Garda Emergency Response Unit has raised objections about proposed questioning by the Dail inquiry into the killing of John Carthy.

John Rogers SC said the gardai he represents have already contributed to the internal Garda investigation into the matter and it is unnecessary to probe them again.

He added that the role of the inquiry is simply to establish the facts and that it does not have the power to find culpability.
