The Labour leader has said the latest opinion poll results are a considerable boost for the party.
Pat Rabbitte's party jumped three points to 13% in the Irish Examiner poll published today.
Fianna Fáil are down two to 37%, while Fine Gael are up two to 26%.
This puts the current government parties and the so-called alternative coalition neck-and-neck for getting into power after the next election.
"I don't think we should lose the run of ourselves after just one opinion poll. But I think the good news is support is ebbing away from the government parties and towards the alternative," said Rabbitte.
Another poll, the Red C poll, is to be published tomorrow.
