Two arrested in connection with cannabis haul

Two men have been arrested after a quarter of a million euro worth of cannabis was found in Galway.

Two men have been arrested after a quarter of a million euro worth of cannabis was found in Galway.

Customs officers and gardaí found 20 kilos of herbal cannabis in a hold-all during a planned search of two cars in a car-park in Oranmore this morning.

The bag had been imported through Dublin Port from Belgium and was transferred under surveillance to Galway.

Two Irish men, aged 45 and 50, were arrested as the drugs were being handed over.

The pair are being held for questioning at Mill Street garda station in Galway.
