Man arrested in connection with taxi driver robberies

A man was arrested early today by gardaí investigating the robberies of a number of taxi drivers in north Dublin.

A man was arrested early today by gardaí investigating the robberies of a number of taxi drivers in north Dublin.

The Blanchardstown Crime Task Force and local officers were involved in the arrest which took place at a checkpoint in Finglas.

A garda spokesman said: “Just after midnight, garda personnel saw a taxi turning away from a checkpoint they had put in place on the Ratoath Road.

“They followed this taxi and stopped it in a cul de sac just off the Ratoath Road and arrested its 28-year-old male fare. A syringe was also recovered.”

The man is being held under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown garda station.
