Fine Gael deputy spokesman on justice, law reform and security, Billy Timmins TD, today called on the Minister for Justice to outline what plans, if any,

he has to deal with increasing street violence.

"It is no longer safe for members of the public to walk along the streets of any

medium sized town in or around closing time.

"many areas in the vicinity of 'take-away food outlets' are minefields as groups of youngsters congregate in anticipation of a row breaking out.

"Weekend stabbings in Donegal and Limerick indicate that late night street

violence seems to be evolving into an acceptable part of our culture, while this

Minister for Justice, who promised so much has delivered so little," said Deputy

Timmins.
