Premiership: Real deny contact with Vieira

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has released a faxed letter from Real Madrid rubbishing rumours that they are actively engaged in a campaign to poach playmaker Patrick Vieira.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has released a faxed letter from Real Madrid rubbishing rumours that they are actively engaged in a campaign to poach playmaker Patrick Vieira.

The Spanish club sent the letter to Highbury yesterday, stressing that they have not held talks with the French midfielder, or with his agents or advisors.

Vieira was spotted in Madrid earlier this week on a day off, re-igniting rumours that he was discussing a contract with Real.

The Spanish giants have publicly admitted their interest in the player and are expected to make a multi-million pounds offer to Arsenal at the end of this season in an effort to break Wenger’s determination not to part with his star midfielder.
