Flights and ferry crossings to and from UK face disruption due to severe weather

Aer Lingus has cancelled some short-haul flights to and from the UK today due to severe weather conditions.

The worst storm in years is making its way across the south coast of England.

Meanwhile, the Irish Ferries "Johnathan Swift Fast Craft" sailings have been cancelled this morning but passengers with valid tickets will be transferred onto cruise vessel sailings.

At least 40,000 homes in southern England are without power and commuters are facing cancellations and delays.
