An explosion rocked the West Bank city of Nablus today, killing three members of Hamas, Palestinian security sources said.
The sources said the men were travelling in a car that pulled up alongside a second abandoned vehicle that was used to store explosives.
The second vehicle exploded while one of the militants was handling materials inside, they said.
The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was unclear whether the explosion had been accidental or whether Israel had carried out the blast.
They said other bomb-making materials were found at the site after the explosion.
The Israeli army frequently operates in Nablus, the West Bank’s largest city and a stronghold of Palestinian militants.
Military officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, denied any army involvement in the incident.
