Michael McDowell of the Progressive Democrats insists there is no vacancy for a new leader in his party.

Michael McDowell of the Progressive Democrats insists there is no vacancy for a new leader in his party.

He was speaking at the PD National Conference in Galway where a motion on the way the party leader is elected was deferred until the autumn.

The Minister for Justice says he is in favour of the entire party membership electing a new leader.
