Aer Lingus has reportedly presented new proposals to pilots in an effort to end the row over the airline's proposed new Belfast base.

Reports this morning say management is still insisting that pilots at the Belfast base will have to work at local pay rates.

However, it has reportedly offered to allow pilots from the Republic to move to Belfast permanently or for a period of up to five years without having to resign from the airline.

Those who move on secondment for three to five years will be allowed to retain membership of their defined-benefit pension scheme.

Aer Lingus is also insisting that plans to introduce an inferior pension scheme in Belfast will not jeopardise the pensions of pilots in the Republic.
