A US telecommunications company is to create 55 jobs for software engineers at a new research and development centre in Dublin.

A US telecommunications company is to create 55 jobs for software engineers at a new research and development centre in Dublin.

Avaya, which specialises in voice communications over the internet, will be creating the jobs at its Irish headquarters in Sandyford.

The company already employs around 170 people in Ireland.

Enterprise Minister Micheál Martin has welcomed its planned expansion, saying it fits perfectly with the type of research and development investment that Ireland is currently trying to attract.
