The Equality tribunal has published 12 decisions on discrimination cases.
They include an award of €70,000 for a woman, who was overlooked for a position because of her gender.
It also includes several rulings on discrimination against members of the travelling community.
The tribunal found that Ms Martha McGinn, a registered nurse, was overlooked for the position of nursing practice development officer with the Daughter's of Charity because she was a woman.
She argued she was better qualified and more experienced than the successful applicant, who was male.
The tribunal awarded her €60,000 arrears in pay and a further €10,000 as compensation for stress.
Another woman was awarded €5,000 in the highest compensation awarded by the tribunal under the Equal Status Act 2000.
The woman, from Cork, was refused admission to a night club she regularly attended once the doorstaff found out she is a member of the travelling community.
Other cases found a pharmacy in Co Tipperary and a bar in Co Kildare had also discriminated against travellers.
However, in the case of a bar in Galway the tribunal found the bar was right to refuse service to a traveller because she was unable to prove she was over the age of 18.
