The ISEQ index of Irish shares was in freefall today, falling 188.97 points to 6700.17.
Despite Shannon airport reporting a record number of passengers for 2007, Aer Lingus fell €0.03 to €2.07 and Ryanair was down €0.27 to €3.65.
The financial houses all took a hit. AIB dipped €0.39 to €14.90 while Anglo fell €0.48 to €9.79.
IL&P was down €0.17 to €11.18 and Bol slid €0.36 to €10.11.
