A Met Eireann Yellow Warning Rainfall alert remains in place for parts of the west coast.
The weather forecaster is predicting between 20mm and 35mm of additional rain today across Connacht, Donegal, Clare and Kerry.
They have also forecast south to southwest winds of around 55 to 65 km/h, with gusts up to 110km/h for the country.
The weather warnings will be in place until late tonight.
Meanwhile, members of the Defence forces are assisting with flood defences in counties Limerick, Clare, Galway and Westmeath.
Water levels rose dramatically yesterday leading to hundreds of properties being flooded.
Many roads remain impassable, several properties have been isolated, and some homeowners have been assisted by the fire service and civil defence.
The Defence Forces say more troops are ready to be deployed to other areas affected by flooding, if needed.
Commandant Sean O’Faherty, the Defence Forces Press Officer, said: "We have deployed 15 troops and vehicles to Clonlara, Co Clare and we have similar numbers in Ballinasloe.
"We have 35 deployed around Athlone Town and in Castleconnell, Co Limerick, we have 30 people.
"They also have troop-carrying vehicles, trucks with high ground clearance to be able to carry people as required.
"What they are mainly doing is flood defence operations, filling and distributing sandbags where they are most needed."
