Actor Guillaume Depardieu, the son of celebrated French star Gerard Depardieu, was taken ill during a court hearing today where he faced charges of threatening a man with a gun.
The judge in Lisieux suspended the hearing after Depardieu, being questioned in the dock, suddenly stopped talking and sat back down in his chair. There was no immediate word on his condition.
The 32-year-old actor was placed under investigation on charges of illegally carrying a weapon, violence with a weapon and threatening behaviour. If convicted, he risks a maximum penalty of three years imprisonment
Depardieu is suspected of having threatened a man with a firearm while at a bar in Normandy in August. He drew the weapon and fired it in the air after the man mocked his clothes, according to police.
