A public parade is being held in Dublin today to call for action on climate change.

The event is being organised by the group Stop Climate Chaos to mark the Global Day of Action on Climate Change.

At 1pm, participants will gather at Dublin's Civic Offices to start the parade.

At 2pm, bells in Christ Church Cathedral and the Pro Cathedral in the city, as well as bells in cities across the country, will toll to call for action on climate change.

The coalition is warning that climate change will eventually extinguish human life on earth if action is not taken.

Next month, Ireland will begin to pay back on our Kyoto targets, as the country has used double the sanctioned CO2 emissions.
