Gardaí involved in the shooting of John Carthy in Abbeylara four years ago are due to reveal today whether they are prepared to continue co-operating with the inquiry into the killing.
The gardaí have threatened to cease co-operating with the Barr Tribunal due to a row between their senior counsel John Rodgers and the inquiry chairman Justice Robert Barr.
On Monday, Justice Barr attempted to defuse the situation by saying he regretted the row and may have been unfair in accusing Mr Rodgers of attempting to bully him.
He also warned the gardaí that they had no right to cease co-operating with a tribunal of inquiry and could be summoned to give evidence individually if they failed to attend with their legal representatives.
