Police hurt in Newry disturbance

Four police officers have been injured during trouble in Newry city today.

Four police officers have been injured during trouble in Newry city today.

At around 4am police were called after reports of criminal damage to a car on the Old Warrenpoint Road.

A man and woman are alleged to have become abusive and violent as police made inquiries and a crowd of 20 then appeared.

A number of men set upon one officer and his three colleagues rescued him and withdrew from the area. A man and a woman were arrested.
