PSV Eindhoven warmed up for Tuesday’s Champions League visit to Arsenal with an unconvincing defeat of RKC Waalwijk at the Philips Stadion.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink netted the only goal of the game two minutes into the second half to move PSV to the top of the Eredivisie table, although Feyenoord, who started the day at the summit, can replace them with a win against FC Twente tomorrow.

Heerenveen left it late to register their first win of the season against fellow strugglers De Graafschap.

The teams started the day as the bottom two in the Eredivisie but the higher placed Heerenveen prevailed 2-0 thanks to goals in the final 10 minutes from Georgios Samaras and Ugur Yildirim.
