Cork Constitution kept up their unbeaten start to the Division One campaign by powering past UL Bohemians at Temple Hill, with Munster full-back Denis Hurley amongst the try scorers.

In a repeat of last season’s semi-final, Con held all the aces and the win sees them reclaimed top spot from Shannon.

Two Jeremy Manning penalties sandwiched an intercept try from centre Tom Gleeson as Con turned around with a 13-3 buffer.

Bohs’ only points came from a Fergal Lawlor penalty, while Hurley finished off a smashing move for Con's second try.

Missing out-half Paul Warwick, who guided them to victory over Galwegians last week, and centre Barry Murphy, Bohemians lacked a good deal of spark behind their scrum and never really got out of second gear.

Con had their homework done and always looked to have a grip on the game in tricky conditions. That said, they were only 3-0 in front by the end of the first quarter courtesy of a penalty from Munster-capped out-half Manning.

A mix-up in Bohs' midfield, where Lupeni Siale stepped in to join former captain Coleman Finn, saw Con's inside centre Gleeson take full advantage to race over for a converted try. Manning also landed a second penalty, with his opposite number Lawlor firing over one of his own at the other end.

Con had won all four of their previous Division One encounters with Bohs and they moved further clear by the hour mark.

A lineout on the far left side saw the ball moved swiftly between Duncan Williams, Manning and Gleeson before Richie Lane stepped in off his wing and put the supporting Hurley over for a well-worked try.

Con closed up shop for the remainder and despite a brave effort from the visitors, Brian Walsh's men held onto their 17-point advantage for their fifth win in six league games.
