Branston Pickle-to-Oxo stock cube maker Premier Foods said today that May and June’s wet weather had boosted its performance.
The company said that a return to a “more ’normal’ summer” had helped the food products-maker recover after an exceptionally hot April had impacted sales.
But Premier, which also makes Bird’s Custard, added that its performance for the full year would be in line with expectations.
The firm said it was on track to make cost savings of £113m (€167m) from its recent acquisition of Mr Kipling firm RHM and the UK arm of Campbell’s Soup.
Last week the company announced plans to cut 580 jobs from the closure of six factories following the RHM deal.
Premier Foods acquired the Erin brand last year as part of its €677m purchase of Campbell's UK and Ireland operations. Campbell's acquired the Erin business from Greencore in 2002.
