The Irish Farmers Association is protesting to TDs in the Dail today over the doubling of animal health levies paid by farmers.

The IFA suspended its national council today in order to lobby TDs over what they say has been a drop in living standards of 13%.

Association president John Dillon says the latest move by the Government is the last straw.

"We are here today in the Dail to tell the TDs, the Minister and the Government that we are not accepting this type of scenario any longer and we want them to make a u-turn on this particular matter," he said.
