Suspect due in court over murder of Dublin surgeon's family

An eighth man is to appear in a British court today charged with the murder of the family of a Dublin surgeon - his wife and three children - who died in a suspected arson attack on their home.

The 22-year-old, who has not yet been named, has been charged with four counts of murder over the deaths of Shehnila Taufiq, 47, her daughter Zainab, 19, and sons Bilal, 17, and Jamil, 15.

The man, from Leicester, will appear before magistrates in the city.

The four family members died when flames engulfed their home in Wood Hill, Leicester, in the early hours of September 13.

Seven people have already appeared in court charged with their murders. They have been remanded into custody to appear at Leicester Crown Court at a later date.

Detectives have been examining possible links between the suspected arson attack and the fatal stabbing of youth football coach Antoin Akpom in Leicester on September 12.
