Charlton today announced to the Stock Exchange a share issue from which they expect to raise £5.525m to fund transfers.

The issue has been under-written by existing directors and shareholders and a new investor, Derek Chappell, who will be appointed as a non-executive director to the board.

The news comes on the day Charlton manager Alan Curbishley celebrated 10 years in charge at The Valley.

Curbishley has already spent £3m this summer, acquiring England under-21 striker Darren Bent from Ipswich.
