More than 10,000 runners were due to throng the streets of the Irish capital for the Dublin Marathon tomorrow.
The road race, the largest ever in the event’s 22 year history, saw athletes from all over the world descending on Dublin.
Competitors will start the race at the historical Four Courts in the marathon which is estimated to be worth £10m to the city’s economy each year.
Runners are due to set off at 9am, five minutes after wheelchair competitors begin the race.
There is also a race for entrants with cerebral palsy.
The finish area will be in Smithfield where each competitor will receive a finisher’s commemorative plaque.
Meanwhile, motorists who need to cross the city were being advised to use the East or West Link toll bridges.
Scores of other roads will be closed to traffic throughout the city and parking restrictions will be in force.
Last year half of the 8,890 competitors who competed were from different parts of the world, with 50 countries represented.
