A youth was arrested tonight in connection with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Co Antrim.
The victim had spent yesterday evening with up to 40 young people in the Harmony Hill area of Lisburn.
But after the teenager left the crowd with her attacker she was sexually assaulted in an alleyway, between Moss Road and Sharry Drive.
Inspector Karen Baxter, the officer leading the investigation, said: “This has been a terrible ordeal for the young girl and her family.
“They are devastated.”
The SDLP’s Patricia Lewsley also expressed shock at the sex assault, which happened around 9pm yesterday.
The Lagan Valley MLA said: “The young girl involved has suffered a distressing and harrowing ordeal.”
