Dutch authorities have seized more than 1,500 pounds of cocaine with a street value of €30m hidden in a shipping container bound for Britain.
The Dutch national prosecutor’s office said the drugs were found on June 22, but the bust was not immediately announced because of continuing investigations.
British police arrested two men in London on June 29 in connection with the shipment. No arrests were reported in the Netherlands.
“A sniffer dog raised the alarm during a routine check, and the container was then unpacked,” prosecutors said in a statement in Rotterdam. “The cocaine was hidden in steel drums with molasses.”
The container came from Guyana.
