75% of disabilities services 'sub-standard'

A study commissioned by the National Disability Authority has reportedly found that three-quarters of services for people with physical and mental handicaps in Ireland are sub-standard.

A study commissioned by the National Disability Authority has reportedly found that three-quarters of services for people with physical and mental handicaps in Ireland are sub-standard.

Reports this morning said the study had found that just 25% of services met the Department of Health’s standards.

The study reportedly found widespread failings in areas such as providing needs assessments, respecting the rights of patients and consulting family members about the care of their relatives.
