Convicted drug dealer John Gilligan remains in a "serious but stable condition" in hospital today after being shot in West Dublin last night.
It is believed he was shot a number of times at his brother's house in Greensfort Crescent in Clondalkin at around 7pm yesterday evening while attending a family gathering.
He was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
The terraced house belonging to Gilligan's brother remains sealed off this morning as Gardaí carry out a full examination of the scene.
A garda manhunt is underway for two men believed to be involved in the shooting who fled the scene in a car.
Cathal McMahon, Crime Correspondent with the Irish Mirror says the 61-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.
This is the same place he first visited after his release from Portlaoise Prison last October.
He was shot at least twice in the chest and leg while his head was also grazed by a bullet.
Gilligan had been warned his life was in danger after a gunman went into a pub looking for him last December.
He had only been released from prison two months beforehand after serving 17 years for drug dealing.
